McCord Reward System

McCord HEART Blue Slips:

The McCord HEART Blue Slips program has been established to recognize the many ways that students strive to show McCord HEART. On a daily basis, teachers share Blue Slips with students whom they feel best exemplify one or more area of HEART.

On a daily basis, one student from each lunch span (K-1, 2-3 and 4-5) is selected by a random drawing to be VIP for lunch. This student will pick up two VIP lanyards from the office after announcements. With these lanyards they will choose a buddy to eat lunch with at the VIP table in the cafeteria. They will also be the first ones to eat. After lunch they will receive a Popsicle for each one.

On a monthly basis, per grade level a blue slip will be drawn to recognize this student at the  monthly Mustang Awards Assembly. This student will have their choice of a special yellow “McCord has HEART” t-shirt or a Stuffed Mustang. All students with a Blue Slip will receive them back to be used as a “Fast Pass” for lunch.

Orange Cove Orange Slips:

OC Orange Slips are given by members of the community to any Orange Cove student. When a McCord student brings one into the office, they are able to pick a prize from the Treasure Box and the orange slip is put into the drawing box in the office. They are treated just as the Blue Slips.

Teachers should strive to distribute at least 10 Mustang Blue Slips each week.

The PBIS Committee will provide suggested areas of focus throughout the year.

Shake it Up Fridays:

Four students from each class will be chosen by their teacher based on the given weekly criteria and they will participate in an activity during lunch recess. They will receive a small reward for being selected.

Hot Seats:

Each week the classes with the highest percentage of attendance will receive a fruit snack for each student and a certificate. Each month, the class with the highest percentage of attendance will be rewarded with pizza for lunch in Mustang Park with Mrs. Rosalez and a certificate. The teacher will receive a 20 minute Hot Seat pass. The classes will be divided by K-2 and 3-5.
